Freeborn County is located in south central Minnesota. It is named for William Freeborn, a Minnesota pioneer.
The seat and largest city are both Albert Lea.
Freeborn County borders Steele, Waseca, Mower and Faribault Counties in Minnesota, as well as Winnebago and Worth Counties in Iowa.
Main roads through the county include I-35, I-90, US-65, US-69, MN-13 and MN-109.
